An American fast food chain that’s best known for its chargrilled burgers is heading over the pond and opening in the UK in the coming months.
Carl’s Jr. announced in May 2024 that it would be launching here under the stewardship of Boparan Restaurant Group (BRG), and now the very first location has been confirmed.
The debut restaurant will be setting up shop in Cardiff in April, inside St David’s Dewi Sant – the city’s biggest shopping centre.
The venue is designed to accommodate 50 visitors and will generate 40 new employment opportunities for the local area. The chain has promised to deliver a ‘West Coast atmosphere adapted to British preferences’.

Set to rival the likes of Burger King and McDonald’s, the Carl’s Jr. menu will feature a selection of four ‘classic’ burgers, three premium Angus beef burgers, as well as several chicken burgers.
Additionally, there will be a selection of ice cream milkshakes, unlimited soft drinks, crispy chicken tenders, delicious brownies, and indulgent ice cream sundaes available.
The newly opened Cardiff location marks the initial step for the chain's growth in the UK and Ireland, as an expansion strategy is already underway. Additional restaurants are anticipated to open in late 2025 and throughout 2026, with Carl’s Jr. aiming to establish a presence in major urban centers like Birmingham, Manchester, and London.
David Moffat, the Country Manager for Carl’s Jr. in the UK, remarked: "Carl’s Jr. is known for its commitment to providing top-notch, irresistible food that distinguishes itself in the competitive burger industry."
"We are excited to introduce this legendary brand to Cardiff, marking our first establishment in the UK. There has been tremendous enthusiasm from fans who are eager to enjoy the unique experience that Carl’s Jr. offers, and we look forward to welcoming them this April."
