5 items you should avoid leaving in a freezing car
January 8, 2025, at 8:20 AM Eastern Standard Time.
We often treat our cars like an extension of our living spaces, using them to store items we either prefer not to bring indoors or accidentally leave behind.
As the temperatures begin to drop, there are five essential items you should remember to remove from your vehicles.
Mobile Phones
Apple warns that its devices shouldn't be stored in anything below minus 4 degrees. It should be above 32 degrees to use them. Samsung suggests similar guidelines, the Detroit Free Press reported. It's all because of the lithium-ion batteries, which don't work well in the cold. Once they warm up, usually the devices are OK to use, but the Free Press reported that repeated exposure to below zero temperature can be an issue.
Pharmaceuticals
Pharmaceuticals can lose its potency with temperature swings.
